Q1. How much notice must I give if I want to move out of my apartment?
A1. After the initial term of your Lease has ended, you may terminate your lease by giving us at least two (2) full calendar months’ prior written notice before moving out. If you want to terminate your Lease as of the end of the initial term, you must provide us with written notice at least two (2) calendar months’ prior to the end of the initial term. Two (2) full calendar months is not the same as 60 days. *See Two Calendar Months’ Notice Reminder.
Q2. Who do I call if I have a question or issue with respect to the apartment?
A2. For emergencies, call 911 for the Police or Fire Department. For Furnace and Hot Water Heater issues, call Vermont Gas Systems at 802-863-4511. *See Furnace and Hot Water Heater information. For other maintenance emergencies, please contact us. Please refer to the first page of your Lease to contact us.
Q3. How do I pay my rent?
A3. The only way to pay the rent is by mailing (you cannot drop it off) a check (NO CASH ALLOWED) payable to “McHugh & McHugh, LLC” to the following address, which must be received by us by the 1st of the month:
McHugh & McHugh, LLC
c/o Laura A. McHugh
263 Fox Run
Colchester, VT 05446
Q4. Why am I charged a fee when I am only one day late with my rent?
A4. Rent is due on the 1st of the month and, as such, you must pay your rent on the 1st of the month. We do, however, allow for a five-day grace period, but if we receive the rent on or after the 6th of the month, we will charge you a fee pursuant to the terms of your Lease. The fee compensates us for only some of the additional costs and expenses we incur as a result of not receiving the rent on time.
Q5. Can I have someone stay at the apartment with me who is not on the Lease?
A5. No. Only the persons whose names are on the Lease with McHugh & McHugh, LLC can reside at the apartment. No other persons may reside at the apartment.
